The U18’s Ignite Tigers and U14’s Ignite Warriors have won their respective titles last Saturday the 6th of December 2014 in the Perth Redbacks domestic league. Battling in humid conditions, both teams showed the fruits of hard work and dedication as they picked up both medals and trophies in two age groups.
The Tigers cruised through both games, winning by an average of 26 points while the Warriors faced stiffer competition winning their semi-final by 8, before closing out the championship round by just three points.
Perth Redbacks are one of the foremost basketball organisations in WA. Working from grassroots, through WABL level and into SBL, the Redbacks have invested heavily in the community across the city and beyond with huge success.
Of the success, domestic director of the Perth Basketball Association Marg Prior said, “Drug Aware Ignite basketball teams have become a force at our domestic competition on Saturdays. The players are keen and have developed many skills from the competition both on and off the court. The Drug Aware Ignite Basketball Program is well respected and has proven to be a hit among the players who compete on a weekly basis with enthusiasm, persistence and respect for each other. Perth Redbacks provide a Basketball pathway for Ignite players to play at all levels of Basketball - Domestic-WABL-SBL.”
